In great haste

DEAR FRED,

Let Dupont reply to the Marseilles people (incl. their manifesto[1] and letter) and put them in their place—in the name of the GENERAL COUNCIL. At the same time he can send them our manifesto.[2] If he needs them I can send him new copies from here.

As to the manifesto itself, apart from The Spectator which has written it up in an article too clever by half, and the brief extract in the Pall Mall,[3] all the London PAPERS have tried to BURKE us.
