ENGELS TO LAURA LAFARGUE
IN PARIS
Eastbourne, 24 August 1886
4 Cavendish Place
My dear Laura,
This morning I receive your letter of the 20th from London with a perfect avalanche of other letters and papers—I cannot therefore do to-day more than send you the cheque £15. -
Old Becker[1] writes that he will be here (in London) with the van Kols' by 12th September.
Countess Guillaume-Schack who was here only a month ago writes she will be here about 15 September with the Wischnewetzkys6 ' 8
(male Russian, female Yankee).
Liebknecht writes he may leave for London to-morrow. As soon as he lets me know date of arrival, I shall go to London to see Edward and Tussy before their departure 60 ' and bring Liebknecht over here for a few days — we return to London 4 September.[2]
Glad to see that Vierzon 6 ' 9 is exploited again like Decazeville.[3] 545
The other day a postcard came from Schorlemmer from Bellaggio, Lake of Como.
Love from Nim, the Pumpses and yours affectionately,
F. Engels
